Preventive CareIn Redmond
Preventive care encompasses a range of treatments and practices designed to prevent the onset, progress, and recurrence of dental diseases and conditions. It helps you maintain healthy teeth and gums and reduces the need for more extensive and costly treatments in the future.
Why Should I Get
Preventive Care?
Preventive care is essential for keeping your oral health in check and avoiding the development of dental issues like cavities, gum disease, and tooth loss. Regular visits allow for early detection and treatment, so your smile can stay healthy and vibrant for years to come.
Cleaning & Hygiene
Professional cleanings and hygiene appointments involve the removal of plaque and tartar from your teeth, particularly in areas hard to reach with brushing and flossing alone. These visits also provide an opportunity for you to learn solid hygiene habits to maintain your oral health.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays are a crucial part of preventive care, offering a detailed view of your oral structure beneath the surface. They help identify hidden problems such as early signs of decay, impacted teeth, cysts, tumors, and bone loss.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments strengthen the enamel on your teeth, making them more resistant to decay. This preventive measure is especially beneficial for patients at high risk of cavities.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are a preventive treatment that involves applying a protective coating to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars). This barrier protects the enamel from plaque and acids, which reduces the risk of cavities in these vulnerable areas.
Periodontal Care
Periodontal care focuses on maintaining the health of your gums and the structures that support your teeth. Regular assessments and treatments, such as scaling and root planing, help prevent gum disease and its associated complications. Periodontal care plays a crucial role in preserving your overall oral health.
Oral Cancer Screenings
Oral cancer screenings detect early signs of cancer in the mouth. This quick and painless process involves examining your mouth for any signs of cancerous or precancerous conditions, helping to catch the disease early when it's most treatable.
Night Guards
Night guards are custom-made devices worn during sleep to protect the teeth from the effects of bruxism (teeth grinding) and TMJ disorders. They help to reduce jaw pain, prevent tooth damage, and promote better sleep patterns by alleviating the stress on your teeth and jaw.
Pediatric Dentistry
Pediatric dentistry focuses on the oral health of children from infancy through the teenage years. It provides preventive care, restorative treatments, and education on good oral hygiene habits in a child-friendly environment.
Laser Dentistry
Laser technology allows us to perform various dental procedures with precision and minimal discomfort. It offers benefits such as reduced bleeding, faster healing times, and the ability to precisely target and treat decay, gum disease, and other oral health issues without damaging surrounding tissues.
How It Works
Treatment Process
01
Comprehensive Evaluation
The treatment process starts with a comprehensive evaluation, including a consultation, risk assessment, X-rays, and a 3D wellness scan. This helps us identify any immediate needs and plan for preventive care.
02
Personalized Treatment Planning
Based on the initial evaluation, a personalized treatment plan is developed to address your specific oral health needs. This can range from preventive measures like cleanings and screenings to specialized treatments like night guards or laser dentistry.
03
Implementation and Follow-Up
The final step involves the careful implementation of your personalized treatment plan, followed by regular follow-up visits to monitor your oral health and adjust care as necessary.

To floss properly, start with about 18 inches of floss, winding most of it around one of your middle fingers and the rest around the opposite middle finger. Hold the floss tightly between your thumbs and forefingers, and gently slide it up and down between your teeth. Curve the floss around the base of each tooth, making sure you go beneath the gumline. Do not force or snap the floss, as this may cut or bruise delicate gum tissue. Use clean sections of floss as you move from tooth to tooth for the best results.
Prophylactic cleanings, also known as regular cleanings, are preventive measures performed on patients with healthy gums to remove plaque and tartar and to prevent cavities and gum disease. These are recommended twice a year for most people. Periodontal cleanings, or scaling and root planing, are deeper cleanings for patients with gum disease. This type of cleaning goes below the gumline to remove plaque, tartar, and bacteria from the root surfaces of the teeth to help treat and manage periodontitis.
For effective brushing, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. Position the brush at a 45-degree angle to the gums and gently move the brush back and forth in short (tooth-wide) strokes. Brush the outer surfaces, the inner surfaces, and the chewing surfaces of the teeth. To clean the inside surfaces of the front teeth, tilt the brush vertically and make several up-and-down strokes. Brushing should last at least two minutes, twice a day, to ensure all plaque is removed.
